I got the part time job I was hoping to get! It's data entry, at a survey place. Being that it's data entry...and surveys...I feel motivated to write two posts on two money making opportunities!!
The first post is about data entry. There are legitimate ways to make money doing data entry online, at home...but for every one real opportunity, there are 10-20 fake ones. The key is how to spot the difference.
THE SCAMS: So, you've received an email or spotted a website that claims to make you tons of money, and all you have to do is enter a few words. You need little to no experience and you can start right away. You think, "Wow, this is too good to pass up!" You click the link only to find out you have to pay $20 for the information. What's $20, if you are going to make thousands just by entering some words. So you pay the money. Now you receive this "valuable" information, normally via email. The information..."take this letter, copy it, and send it out to other people via email or post on job boards" The email is the same link you just clicked on to purchase the information. And then you wait, wait for some sucker to also pay $20 to purchase the "valuable" information and then you will get paid. If no one clicks, no money for you! So, you're out $20, plus your time in posting or emailing the letter.
Real data entry positions do exist, but first of all, they'll never ask you to pay to work. Why would you want to pay to work? That's like going into McDonald's for a part time job and paying the manager to hire you! That's just not right, and well, in that case, I guess it's considered bribery! lol
Second of all, data entry jobs are fairly easy, but they do require some skill. No one is going to hire someone for data entry who "hunts and pecks" the keyboard, only typing 10 Words Per Minute. Most require at least 40 WPM, if not more. And most places will not hire "on the spot", they will require an interview and reference checks. After all, data entry may require you to type personal, confidential information. Most places are not just going to hand over that information without at least screening to make sure you are qualified to handle it.
I would recommend looking on classified, like Craigslist, or newspaper classifieds that offer legitimate data entry positions in your area. You may not be able to begin at home at first, but with training that opportunity may arise. I have friends who do data entry for an insurance place and after six months of training, they all now work at home.
Best wishes, if you choose data entry, and remember...NEVER PAY TO WORK!!
